The simplification in block diagrams can also be useful when demonstrating an idea, but hiding the inner workings of possibly confidential intellectual property (IP). Top-down design in electrical engineering frequently progresses through progressively detailed block diagrams. Block diagrams in process control reveal the functions of surgeries but not the components that do them. The purposes of block diagrams can then be executed with programmable logic controllers (PLC).
Contrary to schematics, blueprints and layout diagrams, block diagrams do not portray the essential detail for physical construction. Block diagrams are created easy so as to not cloud concepts.
Block diagrams are used heavily in design and engineering of diagrams for procedures, hardware, applications and electronics. Most frequently, they signify concepts and systems in a higher degree, less detailed overview. The diagrams are helpful for troubleshooting technical problems.
Block diagrams are also used in a scientific context. In the analysis of biology, as an example, block diagrams can be used to show biological functions and interrelations.
